12/10/05 - Society had its first meeting of the new year where it decided on the new board members (see "Society Members" page). A games night was also to be held in the collage bar to get out the message that the agrics are in business! Wheels were put in motion to get the rugby shirts orderd and ideas were gathered for events to take place in.
19/10/05 - Games Night
The first Ag-society organised event went a head with a big turn out. There was a free entry quiz put on by experianced quiz masters Fergie and Calum, which the drunken football team managed to cheat their way into winning.
There was an Irish Bingo which was free entry again, with a bottle of champagne and other prizes up for grabs.
Slave auction followed this, where the board members were auctioned off to fulfill the desires of their new masters. Jon went for a sturdy price of 11 pounds. He proved to be the one in the bargin bin as the money then picked up as Mousey was sold for the hansome some of 22 quid. Hilary followed the good run, gathering 17 pounds whilst Wullie managed to scrape up just 14 pounds. Neil somehow managed to get 41 pounds (i think 30 of that would be his own money) and McHarg finished the sales with 31 pounds.
The slaves have suffered much pain and molestation since.
Drinking games finished the night. A good old fashioned 4 team 5 man boat race saw 20 pints vanish in seconds. The next race was a downing race the length of the games hall, with much spilling, slipping and spewing.
16/11/05 - Agriscot
On the 16th, Auchincruive traveled to Ingliston to attend the annual Agriscot event.
31 people traveled on the coach (Dodds coaches), departing the collage at 8:30. The majority of the breakfasts consumed were liquid based and in bottle or can form.
We reached a busy Agriscot event with many stands there, full of people wanting us to "win" something from them or for them to sell us something, but to no avail. The intrest lied in what they had on their stands that we could leave with for free, wether it be a pen and a notepad or a box of latex gloves and an asortment of stress ball cows.
Most pens taken record 2005 - Brisbane (21 pens) (Untill told of better)
After the intake of the cattle showing and the blagging off the stalls it was time for a refreshment. Luckily the organisers at Agriscot had provided a bar (which we obviously knew nothing about). One or two drinks were consumed, to say the least and then before we knew it the time was 4:30 and we were on the bus again.
The drinking never stopped when we left the bar as much was consumed out of pre-mixed 2 litre coke botttles and yet more "breakfast", in between sing-songs on the return, resulting in three bin liner bags of empties!
The bus then took us into town, which is when my recolections of the night become hazy!
29/11/05 - Stock Judging
The society stock judging was held on the Auchincruive farm with the kind permission from Mr McAuslan the farm manager. John Couser from How Common Farm, Kilmarnock judged the four classes of dairy and two classes of lambs.
Eyes were shifting across the cattle eagerly looking at evey detail for any flaws, although most of those in attendance thought the only flaw was with the judges eyes.
The night went on and came to a close with the winner being Andrew Gold. 2nd and 3rd places went to Jack Henderson and Greame Todd. The sweep stake to "guess the life time yield" was shockingly won by Shane Brown who before the night, thought milk came from potatoes.
Thanks to those who made the night possible and to all who attended.
01/02/06 - Agric Ball
This years agric ball was held in the Savoy Park hotel in Ayr for the second year in a row. There were 85 people at the dinner and by the time the dance got in full swing there would be around 100 (including all gate crashers).
The night kicked off with some drinks and some photos, a number of camera lenses were replaced as Kirk continuosly jumped into focus.
After the delicious 3 course meal it was time for the speeches. Substituting in for Neil at the last moment was Derek and despite being put under pressure with lack of preperation time and his Irish accent, he managed to pull off a good speech.
Willy supplied us with an inside look into the workings of the 2nd years class which saw no-one spared exept himself, but theres always next year for getting you Willy.
Mousey (a.k.a Alison) gave her rendition of life with 2 boys and the atmosphere of the 3rd years class room, the atmosphere apparently comprising mainly of Ians boggies, Hargs farts and Wullies swear words.
Fergie went on to detail life with Kirk, some of which to some awkwardness and hostility, nether the less delivered a good speech.
Harg summed up the night with the chairmans speech and the awards. after presenting the award to Gordon Soane he then elabarated on some of Gordons attributes, mainly his errectile disfunction.
Awards went to:
Honoury Agric - Shane Brown
Conrtactor of the Year - Scott Cowan
Best Lecturer - Gordon Soane
The remainder of the night was spent drinking and dancing with a great number joining in with the Country dancing, even Michael was up on his feet, which made a nice change this year.
